A UK menswear brand is opening its first Northern Ireland store this summer, it can be revealed.

Charles Tyrwhitt, which sells everything from suits to shirts and shoes, looks set to open a new store at the ground floor of Erskine House in Belfast.

It’s taking a ground unit at the building on Chichester Street – the bulk of the building comprising of public sector offices, including HMRC and the Northern Ireland Office.

The company is now on the hunt for a store manager for the site. It’s understood it’s due to open in August this year.

The firm sells formal shirts and suits, but also more casual wear, including polo shirts and knitwear, along with coats and jackets.

Charles Tyrwhitt was formed in 1986 by Nicholas Wheeler, while he was a student.

It then opened its first bricks and mortar store – starting off life as a mail order business – in the heart of London’s prestigious Jermyn Street.

The new store will open up onto Arthur Street in Belfast city centre.
