Penneys Officially Opens First Wicklow Store In Bray | Checkout
Penneys this morning opened the doors of its new store in Bray, Co. Wicklow following an investment worth over €4 million.
Minister of State with responsibility for Business, Employment and Retail Emer Higgins TD officially opened the store at 10am this morning.
Penneys Bray is the latest in a €250 million investment in the business in Ireland taking place across a ten-year period.
The opening has created 100 new jobs for the local economy as locals can enjoy the 19,600 square feet of retail space in Bray Central Shopping Centre.
Customers can look forward to shopping the latest trends in fashion, beauty, lifestyle and homecare while experiencing the convenience of self-checkout tills along traditionally served checkouts.
The head of Penneys Ireland and Northern Ireland Fintan Costello said ahead of the opening, “Opening the first store in a new county is a significant milestone for Penneys, and we can’t wait to welcome new customers and colleagues to Bray.
“Our team has been working hard to create an amazing experience for our customers, with a fantastic selection of products across fashion, beauty, lifestyle and homeware available in our new store.”
At the opening, Costello said he is “delighted to finally open our doors in Bray,” and that the significant investment underscores “the confidence and commitment we have in our home market.”
Penneys And Primark
This month, Penneys celebrates 55 years in business, having opened the doors of its first store on Mary Street in 1969.
With the addition of the new Bray store, the retailer operates 38 stores across 21 counties in the Republic of Ireland, in addition to ten stores in Northern Ireland.
The company trades internationally and in Northern Ireland under Primark, and its store network extends across Europe and into the US.
Penneys recently entered its 17th global market when it opened a store in Budapest, Hungary.
