JD Sports to open four new stores in the UK and Republic of Ireland – TheIndustry.fashion

JD Sports is gearing to open four new stores across the UK and Republic of Ireland this summer, as the sports fashion retail giant continues its expansion into new locations.

New stores are due to launch in Lowestoft, Wembley and Cork in August and Sheffield in September 2024, with in-store DJ’s plus Ballnado Grabber and Batak activation games planned for opening weekends, “to engage consumers” – with JD gift cards to be awarded to the highest scorers at each store.

Across the new destinations, JD says it will ensure local customers are provided with “their fix of all their favourite brands”, including Nike, Adidas, The North Face and Under Armour.

James Air, Head of Group Acquisitions at JD Sports, said: “We’re keen to continue growing our presence within the UK and Republic of Ireland, so it’s fantastic to be launching four new stores this summer.

“This expansion will enable us to carry on doing what we do best – serving our fans with a wealth of quality ranges across fashion, footwear, and accessories.”

The Lowestoft store will open on Thursday 22 August, with a launch weekend planned for 24-25 August. That will be swiftly followed by the openings in Wembley and Cork on Thursday 29 August, with the launch weekend for each over 31 August – 1 September. Last but not least, the Sheffield store will open Thursday 5 September, with the launch weekend set for 7-8 September.

At the end of July, it was reported that JD’s revamped and upsized Westfield Stratford City store has hit the highest turnover in its retail portfolio since its unveiling in April 2024. JD welcomed more than 60,000 customers to the enlarged store in the first week of opening.

JD is a UK-based global multichannel retailer with approximately 3,400 stores employing more than 65,000 colleagues across 36 territories, including a strong presence in the UK, Europe, North America and Asia Pacific.
