International round-up: Collins captains Republic of Ireland for Nations League double-header

Brentford defender Nathan Collins captained Republic of Ireland for their recent UEFA Nations League fixtures against Finland and Greece.

The 23-year-old played the full 90 minutes in both games, with Heimir Hallgrimsson’s side coming from behind to win 2-1 at Finland before falling to a 2-0 defeat away from home against Greece.

His centre-back partner Ethan Pinnock picked up a clean sheet in Jamaica’s 2-0 win over Nicaragua. The Reggae Boyz face the Honduras at 2am BST on Tuesday.

Mads Roerslev will be hoping to make his senior international debut for Denmark, who travel to Switzerland tomorrow evening in the UEFA Nations League.

Hákon Valdimarsson started for Iceland, who came from two goals down to draw 2-2 at home to Wales. He could feature again this evening when Iceland host Turkey.

His goalkeeping colleague Mark Flekken was an unused substitute in Netherlands’ 1-1 draw at Hungary. Netherlands travel to Germany this evening, with Kevin Schade also being an unused substitute for the latter’s first fixture of this international window against Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Kristoffer Ajer featured in both of Norway’s fixtures over the October break, picking up a 3-0 home win against Slovenia before losing 5-1 away at Austria.

Bees forward Bryan Mbeumo netted his fifth goal for Cameroon, who defeated Kenya 4-1 in Africa Cup of Nations qualifying. Cameroon face the same opponent again this afternoon.

Elsewhere in Africa Cup of Nations qualifying, Marley Tavaziva was an unused sub in Zimbabwe’s 1-0 win against Namibia.

Yehor Yarmoliuk played the full game for Ukraine Under-21s, who lost 2-1 against England at Bournemouth’s Vitality Stadium following a late brace from James McAtee.

Jayden Meghoma featured twice for England Under-19s, starting in a 2-1 defeat against Portugal before coming off the bench in Saturday’s 4-1 victory over Netherlands.

Yunus Emre Konak started Turkey Under-21s 3-0 win against Latvia on Friday and could feature against Norway tomorrow evening.

Finally, Julian Eyestone was an unused sub for USA Under-20s’ 3-0 win against Chile, who they will also face tomorrow.
