Lidl opening hours: Over 180 Irish shops to shut for three days over Christmas season

Lidl have revealed that over 180 Irish shops are set to shut for three days over the Christmas season as shoppers continue to prepare for the festive period

Families across Ireland are in the middle of preparing for the man in red’s big arrival on December 25, with just over six weeks left to make sure all their Christmas plans are in order.

With things beginning to intensify in cities and towns across the country, Lidl Ireland have confirmed that their stores will be closed on Christmas Day, St Stephen’s Day and New Year’s Day.

PLANNING

Normally open from 8am to 10pm during the week and 9am to 9am on weekends, Lidl are opening for additional hours in the run-up to big day.

However, the supermarket chain’s stores in the Republic of Ireland will be closing early on several evenings in December to allow its staff to enjoy a well-earned break during the holidays.

Christmas Eve, Tuesday, December 24, will see the shops open at their normal time of 8am, but close four hours earlier than usual at 6pm.

LAST MINUTE

Following their closure on December 25 and 26, Lidl stores will return to their normal opening hours until New Year’s Eve, Tuesday, December 31.

After closing for New Year’s Day, Wednesday, January 1, Lidl will return to their normal opening hours from Thursday, January 2.

With opening times for the stores varying depending on where you live, the Lidl store finder tool on the website is the best way to see when the best time for you to do your shopping is.

The coming weeks will see all other major retailers in Ireland announcing their Christmas opening times, with the majority expected to be closed for at least three days.

According to research, the best time to do your shopping is when your supermarket chain opens its doors early in the morning or the hour before they’re set to close their doors.

Additionally, reductions tend to be offered on various foods, based on the volume of stock and sell-by dates, in either the morning or in the evening.
