Daughter of ex-Republic of Ireland manager stuns in Miss Universe Ireland final
CAOIMHE Kenny stunned in Dundalk while representing Louth in Miss Universe Ireland’s qualifying event on Friday.
Caoimhe, daughter of ex-Republic of Ireland and current St Patrick’s Athletic manager Stephen Kenny, finished just shy of first place on the night.
Cork’s Sofia Labus was eventually crowned Miss Universe Ireland from a pool of 27 beauties at the Fairways Hotel in Dundalk.
Sofia’s mum and dad hail from Serbia, and as the daughter of immigrant parents, she is passionate about social justice and, in particular, advocating for better treatment of asylum seekers.
Sofia currently holds a level 5 qualification in Psychology and Social Studies, and her ‘ultimate goal’ is to become a human trafficking criminal investigator.
Labus goes on to represent the country at the 73rd Miss Universe Competition which will be held in Mexico on November 16.
Kenny and Annie O’Dea from Galway were named the first and second runners-up, respectively.
Caoimhe works as a fashion buyer for Brown Thomas.
The high-achieving daughter of the St Patrick’s Athletic boss was previously employed as UK Territory Manager for the Global Youth Sustainability Platform Junk Kouture.
She’s not the only one of Stephen and wife Siobhán’s four children who has made headlines in their own field of late either.
The apple very much falls close to the tree in the case of son Eoin who has established himself in Dundalk FC’s senior squad this season.
The event also featured a special guest performance from Louis Walsh’s new boyband Next in Line.
