International call-ups for Sligo Rovers’ Aidan Gabbidon and Thomas Morley

Sligo Rovers’ duo Aidan Gabbidon and Thomas Morley have been called up to the Republic of Ireland Under 16s and Under 19s respectively.

Defender Aidan Gabbidon is a regular in Irish underage squads, and travels to Scotland this week with the Irish U16s who are looking to defend their Victory Shield title.

Ireland will take on Scotland on Tuesday, October 8, Wales on Thursday October 10 and Northern Ireland on Sunday, October 13.

Gabbidon, who is the younger brother of goalkeeper Kyle, played 90 minutes for Ireland in a 2-2 draw in a friendly against Belgium last week.

Thomas Morley, who hails from Knock in Mayo, received his first international call-up having impressed for Rovers all season in midfield.

The Under 19s travel to Croatia this week where they will take on Greece (Wednesday October 9), Croatia (Saturday October 12) and Mexico (Tuesday October 15).

The Republic of Ireland Under 19s manager Tom Mohan was at The Showgrounds last Wednesday night, and was clearly impressed with Morley who has grown as a player this year.
