INTERNATIONAL: O’Brien receives Republic of Ireland Under-21s call-up


Accrington Stanley defender Connor O’Brien has today received his first ever call-up to the Republic of Ireland Under-21s squad.

O’Brien, who made his first start in last season’s 2-1 Sky Bet League One win over Oxford United, has since played a further 30 times for the Reds, with the 19-year-old also involved in every domestic fixture in 2024.

Jim Crawford’s side will travel to Zagreb, and face both Croatia and England in friendlies; before continuing their 2025 UEFA Under-21s European Championship qualifying campaign against Turkey and Latvia in Sep’.

A full list of Republic of Ireland Under-21s’ fixtures and kick-off times can be found below:

  • Croatia Under-21s v Republic of Ireland Under-21s – Friday 7th June (5pm).
  • England Under-20s v Republic of Ireland Under-21s – Tuesday 11th June (3pm).
