Ireland crash out of World Cup of Darts in huge upset

The Republic of Ireland darts team have suffered a huge upset loss in the World Cup of darts after losing to debutants of the competitions Chinese Taipei.

The Irish duo of William O’Connor and Keane Barry after battling back to a from 3-1 down to force a deciding leg at 3-3.

But the Chinese Taipei duo of Teng Lieh Pupo and An-Sheng Lu kept their composure to win in dramatic fashion at 4-3 and progressed in the competition as winners of Group E and dumping out the Irish who were the ninth seed in Frankfurt.

Chinese Taipei with this stunning victory deny Ireland the chance of progressing to the knockout stages of the tournament and sealed their place to play Austria in the next round having completed one of the biggest upsets in the history of the World Cup of Darts.

The finals of the tournament is set to place across the weekend but unfortunately the Republic of Ireland team will not be making an appearance.
