Ireland vs England: Kick-off time, team news, prediction, h2h and odds
The post-Gareth Southgate era kicks off for the Three Lions after heartbreak in the final of Euro 2024 this summer, which brought to a close one of the national team’s most successful managerial tenures of all time.
However, it was not without its foibles and the fact that interim boss Lee Carsley takes charge for the first time in the second tier of the Nations League highlights the work still required to get England to tournament-winner status.
A former Irish international who led the England Under-21s to European Championship glory a year ago, Birmingham-born Carsley has plenty of connection with both teams – as does new Ireland manager Heimir Hallgrimsson.
The Icelandic coach famously knocked England out of Euro 2016 and arrives in Dublin looking to reverse his new team’s fortunes. In their last 13 matches, they have lost eight and won just three – two of which came against minnows Gibraltar.
Date, kick-off time and venue
Republic of Ireland vs England is scheduled for a 5pm BST kick-off today on Saturday September 7, 2024.
The match will take place at Dublin’s Aviva Stadium.

The Boys in Green have been in rotten form for some time, but the new manager bounce should make things a little more difficult for England.
Still, the Three Lions will have the overwhelming majority of the talent out on the pitch and the injection of fresh energy from the management and young players could make for a promising honeymoon under Carsley.
