New charity shop opens in Kesh to support veterans rest and recuperation

The North South Veterans Rest & Recuperation charity opened the doors of its charity shop at 5 Riverside Retail Park on Monday, October 14.  The new charity shop is part of a larger initiative to provide veterans and their families with the opportunity for rest and recuperation in a mobile home located in Loneden Caravan Park, Kesh. 

The shop was officially opened by Councillor Errol Thompson, Veterans’ Champion for the sea The charity shop will serve as a key source of funding for the maintenance and expansion of the mobile home project.  The opening attracted supporters of the initiative and those attending the launch enjoyed refreshments as they browsed the shop looking for a bargain.

  Mr. Alan Davenport, the chairman of the North-South Veterans Rest & Recuperation said: “The mobile home is for veterans and their families to avail of a short break for rest and recuperation.”  He noted that the mobile home is open to veterans from both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.

He added: “While the mobile home is free of charge to veterans, It is trusted that a deposit of £100 is paid in advance.

“It would be very much appreciated if all guests would contribute a donation towards the upkeep and cost of running.”
