Republic of Ireland 0-2 England LIVE: Carsley’s reign starts with easy win
Republic of Ireland 0-2 England – REACTION
Three Lions goalscorers Declan Rice and Jack Grealish have been speaking to ITV about England’s 2-0 win over the Republic of Ireland.
Rice said: “Really good. The manager’s first game, and a win.
“In the Nations League, we are below where we want to be, so we know how important it is to come here and win, and to score alongside Jack was a nice feeling.”
Rice was also asked about Carsley having an impact on the team already, but he refused to throw his old manager under the bus.
“We scored 100s of goals with Gareth [Southgate] like that.
“Lee has been refreshing, and he’s been amazing to work with.
“The meetings have been top, and we’ve all enjoyed it.”
Grealish: [The reception] It’s what me and Dec expected.
“But we have nothing bad to say. We enjoyed our time, and I have a lot of Irish in my family, so there is no bad blood.
“I just need to start playing regularly, scoring goals, and that’s what I did today.
“I am not 100 percent fit, but I am getting there, so I am happy.”
Grealish was then asked about missing out on Euro 2024.
“There is no better feeling than playing for England.
“The summer was probably one of the worst summers I’ve experienced because you can’t not see what is happening in front of you.
“It was difficult, but I have that resolve to bounce back.”
