Sligo Rovers friendly ‘meant a lot’ to Seamus Coleman as Bit O’Red’s academy shines against Everton

As Everton and Republic of Ireland captain Seamus Coleman signed hundreds of autographs, posed for hundreds if not thousands of photos, and greeted those in attendance at Friday’s friendly between Sligo Rovers and Everton, he didn’t need to tell anyone how much the occasion meant to him.

On his first Showgrounds return since 2010 (when he played 15 minutes for Everton’s reserves), Coleman was the star of the show.
