Walsall sweat on Jamie Jellis’ fitness as Mat Sadler reveals double injury setback
Jellis was forced off in the 19th minute during Walsall’s cup defeat against Charlton Athletic last week and missed Tuesday’s 3-2 win over Notts County.
However, Sadler will make a decision closer to the weekend on whether the midfielder will be fit for selection.
“Jamie is very close. Touch and go for the weekend, we’ll decide on him probably Friday morning but he’s certainly in contention,” Sadler confirmed.
However, Brandon Comley is poised for four to six weeks on the side lines with a fractured cheekbone which he sustained in the 4-0 drubbing against the Addicks.
In addition, Priestley Farquharson has suffered another setback in his recovery from a thigh injury.
The defender has been out since August and was targeting a potential return in the New Year.
But Sadler has confirmed that the defender is expected to miss a further two months.
He said: “Coms (Comley) will be out for four to six weeks. He’s got a fractured cheekbone which he’s had operated on and won’t be in the building until Monday.
“Priestley unfortunately had a setback last week. He saw a specialist on Wednesday whose confirmed that it is a decent setback.
“So he’s probably looking at another couple of months on the side lines which is a real kick in the teeth for him.
“We’re gutted for him and will need to rally around him.”
